Los Altos School District Saves Local Taxpayers More Than $2.5 Million Dollars

The Los Altos School District on January 16, 2013, successfully refinanced existing general
obligation bonds, resulting in approximately $2.7 million in total savings to its taxpayers over
the next 10 years. The District borrowed money at today’s lower interest rates to pay off
bonds that carried higher interest rates. All of the savings from the refinancing will be passed on to District taxpayers in the form of slightly lower property tax assessments.

Thanks to the generous support of LAEF and PTAs, students may now check out both electronic and print books from our school library.  Visit the library website eBook page at https://sites.google.com/site/lasdlibraries/library-ebooks to watch  a short video about the library eBook check out process.  Students can read library eBooks on almost any device including a Kindle, smartphone, tablet, Chrome Book, PC or Mac.  Students simply need their library card number and the eBook password which are both available in the library.  All library eBooks are also available in print format; eBooks are a supplement to our wonderful collection of print books to give students more reading options.

 

 
 

LASD Staff to Present at State & International Conferences in 2013

Los Altos School District staff have been selected to present at two upcoming conferences.  Kami Thordarson, Innovative Strategies Coach and Ellen Kraska, Technology Integration Coach will be presenting at the state CUE Conference in March on Digital Storytelling.  Kami Thordarson and Kelly Rafferty, Grade 6 Teacher at Santa Rita will be presenting on Project Based Learning: Creating a Student Film Festival at the International Society of Technology in Education Conference in June.
