About Me: I LOVE being here at the Los Altos School District!! The students, parents, and staff are truly AMAZING! I love getting to know the students year-after-year and enjoy seeing them learn and grow. I have 2 children who are 6 & 8 years old who are Covington Coyotes! I love to play games and be active outside. I enjoy soccer, hiking, paddle boarding and just relaxing by some water. I have a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, with an emphasis in Physical Education. I have taught high school and elementary physical education, as well as, coached girl's soccer and girl's volleyball for over 14 years! I look forward to lots of fun this year!

As long as I can remember I have always had a passion teaching kids. My first job was at 10 years old assisting my older brother coaching a 6-year-old AYSO team and I have not looked back since. I received my B.S. from San Francisco State University as well as my credential and my Masters in Coaching & Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine. I have been active in the field of education and recreation for 23 years, focusing on teaching physical education, early childhood development, coaching and non- profit organizations in the San Francisco/Bay Area, Santa Barbara, San Diego, and Maine areas. LASD has been my permanent home for the last 8 years and I couldn’t imagine working anywhere else or with such a supportive community. When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife and son at the beach, going on bike rides, and playing lots of golf and tennis!

Growing up playing competitive sports I knew from an early age that I wanted my career to be connected with physical fitness somehow. I quickly realized that teaching was my calling and being a physical education specialist would provide me the best opportunity to live my passion every day. I truly feel that I have the best job in the world and I show up to teach each day with a smile on my face, eager to see my students and explore physical activity through games and sports. I have been teaching in California for over 19 years and the last eight years teaching in the Los Altos School District have been the best of my career. Teaching at both Gardner Bullis and Almond Elementary schools has given me the opportunity to connect with many amazing teachers, students and families and it's these connections that make teaching in LASD so special. My educational career includes a Bachelors in Child Psychology from San Jose State University and a Teaching Credential and Masters in Education from Notre Dame de Namur University. When I’m not teaching you can usually find me out on a long run, playing video games, reading a good book, or playing disc golf.

From an early age, I knew I wanted to be a teacher. I grew up being active and working with children of all ages. I feel blessed to be a part of the Los Altos School district community. This coming year will be my  26th year in the  District. I have taught Pre-School to 6th grade in Physical Education. The last five years I have traveled to numerous schools teaching the youngest students in the district. (Preschool, TK , K and  First Grade). I received a BA and Single Subject Credential from San Diego State. In addition to teaching P.E, I work in the Aquatics field and have over 30 years of experience teaching swimming.  Mary enjoys exercising, gardening, sewing, doing her art and giving back to the community. A big part of her life is being a custodian to a retired 7 year old  Golden Lab Breeder from Guide Dogs from the Blind San Rafael.  Narnia is a big part of the Los Altos School district. She travels to each of the schools, help provide support to the students and faculty . We are fortunate because together we make a great team for our community.
