"All children have gifts, some open them at different times." Patricia Polacco. This is one of my all time favorite quotes, and one which helps me navigate through the profession I am in today. My journey to becoming an educator began with teaching an after-school program for inner-city middle school students in Los Angeles and then becoming a mentor/tutor to minority children of first-generation immigrants. The lived stories of these children helped open up my worldview on who I wanted to become as a professional. I earned my BA from University of California Los Angeles and MA and EdS degrees from San Diego State University. As a bilingual/bicultural school psychologist with 16 years of experience working in schools. I enjoy supporting students through analysis of their skillset and helping them become effective learners in order to access their education. In my job I often find myself humbled and inspired by the skillful and flexible teachers, the supportive administrators, the loving parents, but above all, the resilient and wonderful children I meet in my office. In my free time, I enjoy eating desserts, cooking, camping, and travelling with my husband and twins.
