• Deadline to order the BookQuest kits is extended to Sunday, December 3, 2023.

• BookQuest celebration will be Friday, March 29, 2024 (to coincide with International Children's Book Day, which falls on April 2).

Hey, Grizzlies! Do you like to come up with your own stories? Bring a special character to life? Draw illustrations? Write/illustrate comics? We’ve got a special program for you!

Welcome to BookQuest - the program that gives every Grizzly Student from grades TK-6 a chance to become a published author and/or artist! All students are encouraged to come up with their own book idea and have it printed and bound into a keepsake that they will treasure forever. On Friday, March 29, 2024, we will recognize the student authors' work. We will share the details about the celebration closer to that date.

So what will you write about? The ideas are endless! You can:

• Come up with your own fiction story

• Write an autobiography or a biography about someone you admire

• Write about your family, pet, hobby, summer vacation, dreams, etc.

• Make a scrapbook or an album with descriptions

• Research a topic and write about your findings

• Write about your last year’s Gardner Bullis experience

• 6th-Graders: you can write about the special 7 years you spent at Gardner Bullis

• TKers and Kinders: you can create your own alphabet or numbers book

• You can even write a book in a foreign language!

Ready to start? Go to https://gardnerbullis.classroomparent.com/products/1161-bookquest-book-publishing-kit to order a publishing kit by December 3rd, and receive the BookQuest Kit the week of December 11 - just in time to work on it over the Holiday break! Your publishing kit will include:

• Cover, Title, Dedication and Author pages

• 14 Kit Pages

• Step-by-Step guide and tips on the envelope of the kit (Correction: it is OK to write or draw on any of the pages)

• Info about replacement pages if you make a mistake (on the envelope of the kit)

• Checklist to make sure your masterpiece is ready for publishing (on the envelope of the kit)

• Portrait Lined Guide (to help you stay within lines)

• Frequently Asked Questions

• Parent Order Forms (only if you want EXTRA copies of the book)

Come up with a story, type it (or even better: handwrite it to create a more memorable keepsake!), illustrate it, etc. and once you finish your story, return a complete packet to your teacher by January 19, 2024. Your book will be published just in time for the celebration! You can even re-order the same book, if you wish, for as little as $22.95 to make it a memorable gift option for your loved ones!

Important Note:

Please, follow instructions carefully to ensure that you are really happy with your final product:

• Are the pictures and the text within defined areas? Remember: anything in the 1/4 inch margins will NOT get printed!

• Are the pages in the correct order?

Although our BookQuest volunteers make every attempt to make sure that each kit is completed properly before shipping, this is not always possible due to limited time before our publishing deadline.
