FAQ
Do I have to tryout?
No, there are no tryouts and every fitness level is accommodated.
I have another activity that coincides with some of the practice days, can I still participate?
Yes, as long as you communicate and let the coach know ahead of time
What distance are the races at the meets?
There are 5 meets and the shortest distance is 1.1 miles which is the 1st race. The distance gradually increases over the weeks with the longest race being 2 miles.
I have no experience running, will I be able to keep up?
Yes, every fitness level can participate. The practices are geared towards helping each athlete increase their speed and distance regardless of their starting point.
Do I have to go to the meets?
Yes, unless you have an excused absence. I'm aware that participating in the meets can seem overwhelming to some athletes, but ultimately they provide an opportunity to come together as a team and put some purpose behind all the training. Once the initial anticipation dies down the meets become something to look forward to.
How do I get to the meets?
A carpool will be organized from Egan TO the meet location. Each parent is responsible to pick up their own child FROM the meet, or arrange their own carpool home.
FUN STUFF IN ADDITION TO THE TRAINING (dates to be determined)
• Popsicle Day on Thursdays
• Train with the Los Altos High XC Team (8th grade only)
• Pasta Party
• Sweet Shop Run on the last day
Boys run first followed by girls in each division
