Transfers

Transfers from Other School Districts (Interdistrict Transfers)

Los Altos School District does accept a limited number of students transferring from other districts on a space available basis. A request for a transfer is initiated at the district of residence, and must be approved by both districts. An approved transfer is for one year only, but may be renewed subject to space availability.

Parents who work full time within the boundaries of the district can ask for an “Allen Bill” transfer and will receive priority over new regular interdistricts. However, all interdistrict transfers are renewable annually on a space available basis only.

Students wishing to attend a district other than Los Altos may apply for an outgoing Interdistrict Transfer at the Superintendent’s Office.

Transfers Between District Schools (Intradistrict Transfers)

Los Altos School District has a policy of Open Enrollment that permits students living within district boundaries to attend a school other than their neighborhood school, subject to space availability. Contact the Superintendent’s Office for more information.
