The following open enrollment procedure shall apply to parents or guardians
residing within the Los Altos School District who wish to enroll their child in a school in the
district other than their school of residence.
- Register your child at your school of residence.
- Return all registration paperwork to your school of residence.
- Request an Intra District Transfer form at the District Office (201 Covington Road).
Complete the form and return it to the District Office, do not return this
form to a school office.
- Open enrollments will be granted if there is space available after all
students residing in the attendance area have been enrolled.
- If a waiting list exists after the lottery is held at the neighborhood school,
students who are registered after February 13 will be placed on the list in the order their completed
applications are received.
- Following the registration period, registration numbers will be issued
throughout the spring of 2009.
- The Los Altos School District intends to operate under the State's "Class Size
Reduction Incentive" which limits almost all Kindergarten through Third Grade class sizes to 20 or fewer
students. If a school exceeds the limit in a given class, some State funding for the entire class of children is lost.
After all classes at a school are filled, additional student enrollees will be designated as "Overflow"
and given priority for placement at the nearest school with available space.
- The Los Altos School District does not anticipate accepting students
who do not live within the Los Altos School District (Inter District Transfer) during the 2009-10
school year.
- The Los Altos School District will provide an excellent educational program for
your child. For additional information please contact your local school or the District Office (650) 947-1150.
