The Superintendent is the chief executive
of the school district. The Superintendent’s office is responsible
for overseeing (and guiding) the day-to-day operation of the district.

This office is charged with the development of the district’s
instructional program. As part of this charge, the Assistant Superintendent
plans and implements in-service training for teachers. The Assistant
Superintendent also supervises music, physical education, and traveling
mathematics instructors as well as coordinating various categorical
programs such as GATE, Drug Free Schools, BTSA (Beginning Teacher
Support), and literacy grants.

The Maintenance & Operations Department is responsible for the
maintenance, cleaning, and upkeep of the district’s buildings
and grounds. The department handles requests for the use of district
facilities.

The Pupil Services Department coordinates special services to students,
beginning at age three for students with exceptional needs. District-wide
School Health and Psychological services as well as Multi-disciplinary
Assessment services, Special Education, Speech Therapy, services
to English Language Learners, Home and Hospital Instruction, and
the Multi-Sensory Approach Summer School Program for grades 2 and
3 are under the supervision of the Pupil Services Department. Inquiries
about services for school age children should first be directed
to the Principal of the school of attendance. For Special Education
services for three and four year olds or for students currently
attending a private school, call the Pupil Services Department at
(650) 947-1191.
